This vocational scholarship was established by principals of Kenmore Air, founded in 1946 by Bob Munro, who is the father of Leslie Munro Banks and of Gregg Munro and the grandfather of general manager Todd Banks. Kenmore Air is the largest seaplane base operating in the United States. The firm covers the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia and Alaska.
As a past president, Bob Munro was one of eight members of the Northshore Rotary Club who founded the Scholarship Foundation of Northshore in 1984. He also served as the club president.,
Leslie is a past trustee of the Foundation and in 2023 received the first Haynes Service to Community Award from the Foundation.
Kenmore Air celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2021 at the home port at the north end of Lake Washington. The Munro and Banks families have operated the business over these years.
